Strategy and Tactic

Philipp and Julian Autenrieth: "The best tactic and strategy decide the outcome, while the boat and the conditions are more or less the same for everyone.  Whoever can make the best out of these conditions, wins."

Alvaro's experince: " ... teaching the tactical aspects of sailing"

Alvaro Marinho

Why an Olympic boat class? What do you like about this job?
Alvaro Marinho: "The Olympic class is the highest level that a sailor can dream of and one has to work very hard for many years to secure a starting place at the world 's most important sailing event - the Olympic Games - precisely this passionate work to be successful, that fascinates me during Olympic sailing."

Coach of 470 Suiss Team Linda and Maja (SUI 5)

Linda and Maja

They look back on a successful year: Linda Fahrni (left) and Maja Siegenthaler won the Swiss Championship title in the sailing category 470 and represented Switzerland at the Olympic Games in Rio 2016, where they finished 14th.
Your impressions of Linda and Maja until today?
Alvaro Marinho: "I trained Linda and Maja just 10 days before the Rio Olympics, and I immediately realized that both of them have a giant talent and still have a potential to build. Of course, the experience in this class is still missing, but they have shown their starting position in Rio. I have sailed 470 more than 20 years ago, and I think I can give them a part of my experience so they can reach their (and our) goals. "

Your biggest challenges?
Alvaro Marinho: "This could be the physical aspect, the sailing in the Olympic classes becomes more and more conditional, but because I have known them as extremely professional sailors, I am sure that they will also work very purposefully."
Your greatest strengths?
Alvaro Marinho: "That they are so strong as a team is extremely important!
And that they have the tactical aspects in mind, especially in the light and middle wind range as well as almost no other."
