At the start are the teams of the 16 best European nations for the Optimist European Championship 2022. The qualified nations: ITA, ESP, TUR, DEN, GRE, CRO, SWE, POL, RUS, SUI, POR, FRA, NOR, NED, UKR and GER. Germany is represented by Lukas and Moritz Hamm and Catalina and Cosima Feussner, their coach on site Michael Ilgenstein. "A nice first day of sailing is over" said coach Michael Ilgenstein at the end of the first day of racing at the OPTIMIST EUROPEAN TEAM RACING CHAMPIONSHIP 2022." They meet here a very friendly jury that exudes joy in their "job" and enjoys explaining their decisions to the sailors, educating them." For beginners, the typical team race course in " Q-form " with 4 boats is available. Experienced sailors can choose the extended course in " S-form ", either with wind 1x1 or wind 4x4 oscillating. Training and tactical practice are included in the Coach's Toolbox.
